Diddy Announces New Charter School & Special Concert In Honor Of Biggie

Sean “Diddy” Combs, with the help of Capital Preparatory Schools, is opening a new charter school in Harlem.

The legendary entertainer and Harlem native has been working for the past five years in order to enhance educational opportunities for Harlem students.

“Creating this school has been a dream come true for me. I want to impact the lives of young people in my community, and build future leaders. The first step is offering access to a quality education,” said Combs.

In his pursuit of providing a quality education for the Harlem youth, Diddy chose to work with Capital Preparatory Schools and its founder Dr. Steve Perry who was “inspired by Sean Combs belief that educating our young people is the key to opening up a world of opportunity for them,” adding that he “couldn’t be more pleased to continue this journey through the opening of the school.”

Dr. Perry also founded the Capital Preparatory Magnet in 2005 in Hartford, CT, a school famous for having 100% of its graduates accepted into college for the last 10 years. The new Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School will be a replication of Dr. Perry’s Hartford school.

Combs and Dr. Perry are currently looking to convince talented educators from all over the country to relocate to Harlem and teach at their school.  The new charter school will be located at 1 East 104th Street, New York, NY. Capital Preparatory Harlem Charter School is currently accepting applications for 6th and 7th grade students, as well as staff. The school will continue to expand a grade each year until it is fully enrolled at 700 students per grade for grades 6 through 12.
