On Scene: The 69th Annual Parsons Fashion Show

Family and friends came together to toast the hard work of the design students over the years working on their collections. There were many themes and top trends shown throughout the collections.

The event was welcomed by both Joel Towers, Executive Dean, Parsons School of Design and Burak Cakmak, Dean for The School of Fashion.

From an all transparent collection to a revolutionary “non-sized” idea for plus size women. Being that they are all students, the pieces looked so well-done and ready for runway.

The show opened up to a dance with models showing off a student’s work before models strutted the collections one by one.

Ji Won Choi’s collection was the first to walk as models were displayed in short cut platinum blonde wigs and very modern kimonos full of stripes. Tassels fell from the sleeves leaving a lot of details.

Crochet was very dominant in Qiongxib Kou’s collection as the pieces were both men and women with very cozy outfits.

Min Kyung Kim’s pieces were very abstract and colorful. The details shown made the collection very modern.

Emma Cleveland, one of the winners for the Kering Empowering Imagination Award, had a very vibrant and bright fun collection that looked very summer ready. The other winner was Ji Won Choi.

Olivia LeBlanc won the Safilo award, with Safilo being the brand that helped makes the wonderful eyewear for the student’s collection.

As for the final award, Sarah Ann Gillies won the 6 month internship with Yoox Net-A-Porter Group.
