Samm Henshaw & The Sound Experiment Live in Williamsburg

This past Tuesday, Epic records held a showcase for Samm Henshaw, a British Columbia records signee.

The R&B singer/songwriter warmed the hearts of the Brooklyn crowd with his intimate performance. Backed up by his live band, The Sound Experiment, Henshaw gave New York a taste of the music he’s been cooking up overseas in the UK. The ambiance in the room matched the music and the mood, with red lighting, flowers and a soft smoke screen that made the room the perfect amount of sensual.

The sounds of the drums, guitar, and keys coupled with Henshaw’s vocals put the entire audience in a trance and everyone swayed along to his music and some members of the audience even sung along in unison. He performed his latest release ‘How Does it Feel’ and it was evident that the singer was putting his all into the performance. Samm stripped himself as an artist for the audience and allowed us to know him through his music that speaks to his personal ties to what it means to love and be loved.

Samm spoke to the audience all throughout the set, thanking them for their presence and great energy. Towards the end of the set, he asked the crowd to sing along with him, performing a live cover of Lauryn Hill’s ‘Can’t Take My Eyes Off of You’. The crowd automatically responded and everyone applauded. The room all came together as one and sang the song with an unmeasurable amount of passion. He then went on to teach the crowd a song off of his The Sound Experiment 2 EP. The call-and-response moment happening between Samm and the audience was magical and you could see the look of happiness on his face. The soul experience that Henshaw provided was truly unforgettable and we are looking forward to the new sounds he’s willing to provide.
