Saba Drops Vibes On ‘GPS’

Saba returns with his smooth flow over a trance like beat.

Coming off his ComfortZone release and working with Mick Jenkins on a few tracks including the soulful “Slumber” off of Waves, Saba is highly focused on honing his style. Both Mick and Saba have seem to come out of collaborating with bits of each other’s quirks stuck to them. On this new track “GPS” produced by Cam O’bi, Saba shows flecks of Mick’s growl. On the same note, I’m sure Mick’s melodic transition on Waves was thanks to Saba.

“GPS” is an all around great track. Saba delivers on the verses, and the choice in beat and hook fits perfectly. The chilled out beat also provides good contrast to when Saba pumps in more energy and grit into his flow. The only disappointing thing about “GPS” is its length. When the track ended I was expecting another verse.

I’m curious to see where Saba wants to go conceptually with his next release, as this track doesn’t really hint to a theme that is to be extrapolated. Nonetheless, Saba has great potential and his next release will surely solidify it as he hasn’t been slacking when it comes to singles and features.
