The Knockturnal: Where were you when you got the call for Season 15?
Irene Dubois: I was actually in a cabin staying by the beach with my boyfriend. And we had been at the cabin for about a week. And at the very beginning of the trip I was told that the calls were going out that week. So I was stressing the entire time we were there. And on the last day, as I was waking up I got the call. And I was like, ‘ohhh cool, thanks,’ and then went back to bed for like two seconds. And then I was like, ‘WAIT A MINUTE.’
The Knockturnal: Ariana Grande was the celebrity guest judge for the premiere! What was it like meeting her? And was it giving Arianeeee or Ariankaaaa?
Irene Dubois: It was definitely giving Ariankaaaa. Because K sounds are funnier and I am a comedy girl. But I do have to say, Ariana is one of the most humble, down to Earth, real celebrities I have ever had the privilege of meeting – like I’ve met so many. But she wasn’t like how people would expect. A lot of people would think a pop star, when you meet her for the first time would be like yeah I’m a big deal don’t pay attention to me. She looked us in the eye and everything, it was incredible.

Irene Dubois: My drag would have to be stupid, campy, and alien.
