Aura Mayari: Hahahaha is that the truth? You know what I am trying to ignore that stuff but it does feel nice to be appreciated out of drag. But I also want you guys to appreciate me in drag.
The Knockturnal: Where were you when you got the call for Season 15?
Aura Mayari: I just got home from working out. And my boyfriend was working in the office. And a little backstory was I was getting a lot of spam calls from California those past few weeks. And I got their call at the same time I get the spam calls. So I was like, ‘Holy crap, this is another spam call.’ But I was like, maybe I should pick it up just in case. Picked it up and they were like, ‘Is this Aura Mayayayuri?’ They couldn’t say it right. So I got home from the gym, they mispronounced my name, and here I am.
The Knockturnal: Ariana Grande was the celebrity guest judge for the premiere! What was it like meeting her? And was it giving Arianeeee or Ariankaaaa?
Aura Mayari: We are going to say Ariankaaaa. Meeting Ariana Grande was so fabulous. I don’t get starstruck by anybody, mostly because I have never met a celebrity in my life. I thought I wasn’t going to get starstruck but when I met her, I was so fricking blown away by how cute she was. And the only thing – she was holding my hand and telling me how pretty I was and I was sweating tits and balls and the only thing I could say to her was how small her face was. It’s Ariana Grande and the only thing I could tell her was that her face was so tiny. And she looked at me and smiled and moved on.

Aura Mayari: You know what! I was so scared to meet Michelle but she was so nice and so sweet. And she was very motherly. You could tell she really cared about us. And any critique she gave us was very honest but also very respectful at the same time. I think I was her favorite so that’s why I like her.
