The Knockturnal: Where were you when you got the call for Season 15?
Amethyst: I was at work. I used to work with special needs kids. And I had to leave the floor, my heart was racing – I kind of figured out what was going on when I saw that California number.
The Knockturnal: What was it like meeting Rupaul for the first time?
Amethyst: I don’t remember, I feel like I blacked out when it happened. Very intimidating in the best way possible. And she is super tall. Skin like a baby and just gorgeous all around.
The Knockturnal: Ariana Grande was the celebrity guest judge for the premiere! What was it like meeting her? And was it giving Arianeeee or Ariankaaaa?
Amethyst: It was definitely giving Arianeeee. I haven’t met a lot of celebrities in my day, and hoping to meet more. But, she was the most humble, genuine, down to Earth celebrity I have ever met. She really wanted to be there. You could tell this is one of her favorite shows ever. And it was an absolute pleasure to meet her. And I got to hug her!!

The Knockturnal: What’s your favorite lipsync number to perform?
Amethyst: So I don’t really do straight songs. I love doing mixes that are really comedic and stupid mixes. And a crowd favorite is my Judge Judy mix. And it was the first thing I put in the audition tape.
The Knockturnal: There’s a quote going viral right now that says ‘behind every gay person is a gayer, more evil gay person. Who is that person for you and why is it Michelle Visage?
Amethyst: Let me clear something up. Michelle is the sweetest person. One of the sweetest people I have ever met. There is a moment where she really helps me find my inner beauty and outer beauty on the show and I am really excited for everybody to see it.
