Queen Sugar’s The Bordelon siblings are back and they brought drama.
The inaugural Tribeca TV Festival held a red carpet event on Sunday, September 24th followed by a screening of the second season midseason premiere of Queen Sugar.
The stars of the show Rutina Wesley, Dawn-Lyen Gardner and Kofi Siriboe graced the carpet and spoke exclusively with The Knockturnal about what we can expect from this season.
Dawn-Lyen Gardner who plays Charley on the show went through a huge transition last season. She says this season fans can expect to see more change in her character. “Charlie is reinventing herself this season but she is also confronting herself,” said Gardner. “You are going to see introductions of people you have never seen before and you will be able to see what that does to this process that she is in of redefining herself and gaining her independence.”
Rutina Wesley brightened up the carpet with multi-color braids and admitted that her character Nova is a mess. But this season we may find out why she is such a mess. “Nova is very close to home for me,” said Wesley. “She is fluid as a person and I relate to that.” “She is strong yet meek,” said Wesley. “Like me, I’m loud yet shy.”
Heartthrob Kofi Siriboe who plays Ralph Angel admitted he hasn’t seen any episodes from this season but says he and his character have a lot in common. “We are both super passionate and emotional,” said Siriboe. “But he wears his heart on his sleeve and he has a strong ambition to be his best self.”
Queen Sugar will return to OWN with a two-night premiere on Tuesday, October 3rd at 10 PM and Wednesday October 4th at 10PM.
