Pusha T hustles harder than your favorite rapper in any hustle that you pick.
The Hova reference is more poignant than you might think. Pusha T has built his career before him with the mind of a businessman and the heart of an artist. Since rocking the mic with No Malice in Clipse, Pusha has shown an affinity to “coke rap” unmatched by any other emcee.
Pusha could honestly go on indefinitely making drug reference after drug reference, and I’d still enjoy it. Some might argue there’s a staleness in his content. Personally, I disagree. While Pusha might always talk about drugs, he constantly comes up with new metaphors and song structures which encompass the “same” topic with ingenuity.
Consider the imagery on a track like “Nosetalgia”, focused on putting you in the kitchen with Pusha. Listen to “Numbers on The Boards”, where Pusha builds up the couplets like he’s stacking dope. On “Untouchable” he continues the erratic beat structure theme present on “Lunch Money” which I truly love as it adds to the grit in Pusha’s flow. He takes on the verses with ease, flowing over the Biggie vocal sample with confidence.
At this point Pusha T has established himself as one of the strongest dope rappers and a stand out artist, I can only expect a classic from him somewhere on the horizon.
