PS1’s Artist Party Sponsored by Volkswagen Sets the Tone for ‘Warm Up 2015’

Artists and art lovers alike showed up to party at MoMA PS1 in Queens Friday night. PS1, the gem of the Queens art scene and former public school turned modern art museum, hosted the second night of its Artist Party series sponsored by Volkswagen. The event featured an open bar, VIP roof garden access, and performances by Shamir, Floating Points, and FaltyDL.

This invite-only event took place the eve before the kickoff of PS1’s iconic Warm Up concert series, which is open to the public and will feature live performances every Saturday this summer. This outdoor concert series will include music from a range of genres and is free for LIC residents living in zip codes 11101–11109. Non-LIC residents can purchase tickets at PS1s website or at the door.

While you’re having some fun in the sun in PS1’s impressively large courtyard check out the winner of the Young Architects Program, COSMO by Andres Jaquet. Every summer PS1 features an architectural structure that provides shade, seating and water for wary museum goers. This years winner is a stellar, and mobile, construction which houses its own water purifying ecosystem. This is a perfect place to find some shade while you’re jamming out to your favorite musicians.

PS1’s Artist Party has set the tone for this years Warm Up series as a both exciting and chill thing to do with friends on a hot summer day. PS1 is located just across the water from Manhattan and is definitely worth the ride over, especially if its for a Warm Up concert.
