PROJECT Sole presents ‘Made in Portugal’

On Monday evening we celebrated the craftsmanship and artisanal practice of Portuguese designers at The Standard hotel in Chelsea.

The APICCAPS and Portuguese Apparel Association teamed up with PROJECT Sole in correlation with the Project trade show to host this curated ‘Made in Portugal’ event.

The event displayed work from some of Portugal’s most captivating designers that are elevating the fashion marketplace as the Portuguese market grows. The distinct craftsmanship was a predominant aspect resulting in each item having its own story.The presentation featured innovative designs such as jewelry and footwear created out of unique materials in combination with fashion-forward clothing depicting identity and culture. The designers showcased a diverse array of silhouettes from draped bodices to tailored outerwear, while the footwear included everything from runners to contemporary stilettos.

Some highlights of the evening were the sustainable materials and practices that are imbued within the designers’ practices, Portugal has a vast technological industry and in collaboration with them designers have been developing new resources for the textile industry. Identity and innovation were reoccurring themes during the evening, It was clear the Portuguese design community are taking steps to create internationally reputed labels with a focus on tradition and fine craftsmanship. The collective of designers displayed a strong affiliation with cultural values and artisanal notions embodying heritage and eye for detail.
