Presidential Primaries Held June 7th

6 states hold Democratic primaries on Tuesday, while only 5 states hold Republican primaries.

Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders battle it out for the 694 Democratic delegates still available in New Jersey, California, Montana, New Mexico, North Dakota, and South Dakota. The Republican nomination process ends on Tuesday; Republicans vote in five states, as there is no GOP contest in North Dakota. However, although these are among the last of the primaries, none of the candidates will officially have the nomination until the delegates vote at the parties’ national conventions. However, Donald Trump is the only candidate to have secured enough delegates for the nomination so far.

Out of the six states on the Democratic side, the most important is California, with 475 delegates; polls close at 11 PM Eastern/8 PM Pacific. The second most important state is New Jersey, with 126 delegates and where polls close at 8 PM Eastern. The other four states to vote are New Mexico, with 34 delegates and where polls close at 7 PM local time, Montana, with 21 delegates and where polls close at 8 PM local time, South Dakota, with 20 delegates and where polls close at 7 PM local time, and North Dakota, with 18 delegates and where polls close at 7 PM local time.

It seems likely that Clinton will win the delegate majority. She already has enough delegates for the Democratic nomination, so any wins tonight will strengthen that status.
