Premiere: Ron Suno Drops “Pinocchio” Remix Ft. Blueface, Talks Upcoming EP, YouTube Series & More!

Ron Suno Discusses “Pinocchio” remix ft. Blueface, upcoming EP and life in quarantine.

Born and raised in The Bronx, Ron Suno knew from a young age he was going to be an entertainer. Practicing freestyling with his father since the age of 5 and going to the studio from 13 onwards instilled a comfort and natural ability to rhyme that would eventually guide Suno to success. While growing up in Co-Op City, rapping was a popular hobby among him and his friends, but Suno took the right steps to set himself apart and turn his dreams into a reality. From the jump Suno’s “blueprint” was to use his comedic talents to further his music career as well as his fans’ ability to relate to him and his content.

After creating the popular “Weave Challenge” at the age of 17, which was a viral hit, Suno knew the possibilities were endless. In recent years, at the age of 19, Suno has transitioned his focus back to his first love, music. Suno’s label SBL Music Group has even partnered with United Masters to make him even more unstoppable. In the past year alone Suno’s influence on social media has skyrocketed thanks to his many popular Tik Tok challenges, which have even helped him catch the attention of other prominent artists like Blueface, featured on the “Pinocchio” Remix. Suno has also earned the respect of New York heavyweights like Fivio Foreign, featured on the hit single “Spiderman.”

Today Ron Suno joins us for the premiere of his “Pinocchio” Remix Ft. Blueface and to catch us up on what he’s been working on during Quarantine as well as what he has in store for fans! Check out our exclusive interview below.

The Knockturnal: How did the “Pinocchio” remix featuring Blueface come about?

Ron Suno: I met BlueFace through his manager Wack100, his daughter actually did the Pinocchio challenge so that’s when I reached out to Wack100’s daughter and that’s when Wack100 reached out to me. Blueface from the west side I’m from the east side, we both do entertainment it’s nothing for us to collab for a feature. My fans definitely go crazy for Blueface so I definitely had to put him on the song.

The Knockturnal: What do you have coming down the pipeline?

Ron Suno: I’ve got an EP coming called Swag Like Mike, I’m gonna have a lot of sauce on that project. People gotta stay tuned, I’m gonna have 8 good tracks, mad different things Michael Jackson, Mike Tyson, Michael Jordan so theres gonna be a lot of sauce.

The Knockturnal: How did you put together your tracklist and decide which records to include on the EP?

Ron Suno: These are my fan’s favorite songs, what I usually do is post all my snippets on my Instagram and I see what feedback I get the most out of each song and whatever songs they like the most, that’s the song that’s going on the EP.

The Knockturnal: Can we expect any features?

Ron Suno: Yeah I’m gonna have the song with me and Sosa Geek, we gonna have Blueface, then we gonna have “Spiderman” on the project with Fivio Foreign.

The Knockturnal: And what producers did you work with?

Ron Suno: Hargo, he from the U.K., he’s the one who actually made the Pinocchio beat, I did it in a studio session with him and we did a couple songs so expect a few tracks with him. Then I’ve got a Grizavel beat, shout out Grizavel he from the Bronx too.

The Knockturnal: You’ve mentioned that your father raps and freestyled with you frequently growing up, can you talk about the role your father played in helping mold you as an artist?

Ron Suno: Definitely he always freestyled with me, when we in the house he’d start rapping out of nowhere so that was basically training my brain to be comfortable rapping around people so when I came outside it was just natural for me to rap. One thing I can say is my Pops- he really a good rapper, he nice too, but not better than me.

The Knockturnal: Who are some of your comedic inspirations?

Ron Suno: One comedian I looked up to when I was younger was Kevin Hart and I was looking up to Soulja Boy, he’s also an inspiration. Soulja Boy, everything he did he started from social media and I’m not gonna lie I feel like I could do the same thing too.

The Knockturnal: Was Soulja Boy also a musical influence?

Ron Suno: More-so on the business and entertainment side, but in terms of music I’d say 50 Cent.

The Knockturnal: Can you talk about how social media like Tik Tok have helped grow your fanbase and engagement?

Ron Suno: Shout out to Tik Tok, they’ve definitely played a part in my career because a lot of challenges get made by public influencers that help a song go viral. I ain’t gonna lie though, Tik Tok, I feel like that’s where all challenges start. If you’ve got a hot song and then use Tik Tok, you automatically gonna go up.

The Knockturnal: You’re a bonafide expert at creating popular challenges, where did the idea for your original “Weave Challenge” come from? Was it inspired by your life?

Ron Suno: I started the “Weave Challenge “just from me living my everyday life, just me wanting to weave certain negativity away from my life, it was just a saying, ‘weave,’ then it just hit me, everything you have a vision for, you could always turn into reality, I could dead turn this lingo into something that could turn into a trend and that’s exactly what I did. I started on (Instagram) Live doing the “Weave Challenge.” I was on live explaining the story ‘weave’, ‘weave’ and then I moved on to making my first video for the Weave Challenge when I was 17.

The Knockturnal: At what point did it click for you that comedy can help further your music career?

Ron Suno: That was my plan, my blueprint was for me to use my comedy in order to get my rapping lit because that’s what people are going to grasp on more, they were gonna recognize me automatically if they knew my entertainment side rather than my music so I had to get my supporters first. The thing I realized too as a public figure, it’s not what we want, it’s what the people want. When I was dropping music I was moving too fast, they needa understand me so I had to let people understand my character, once they understand me then they understand my music.

The Knocktunral: How’s your creative process been affected by Quarantine and your ability to engage with fans?

Ron Suno: Due to this Quarantine, it’s definitely a struggle for me to talk to my fans face to face because of social distancing, but one thing I’ve benefitted off of this break is that I’m definitely getting a lot of ideas together and writing more songs. I’m definitely doing more things now that I was too busy to do. So when Quarantine is over I got everything in the stash. I still go to the stu, but when I go to the stu I make sure ain’t nobody with me that much. This a good time to go to the stu though to concentrate and get your mind right.

The Knockturnal: Do you think fans are more engaged right now during Quarantine because everyone’s on their phones?

Ron Suno: Yeah during Quarantine everything is more predictable, you know when you drop something everybody’s gonna tune in, you know when everybody’s on live so it makes things easier for social media especially when it comes to the entertainment side.

The Knockturnal: You mentioned Kevin Hart as a comedic influence, do you have any interest in acting in film or tv?

Ron Suno: I definitely see myself acting, I ain’t gonna lie that’s definitely my goal to elevate my skits because that’s gonna be a big step. That’s one thing I’m looking forward to doing one day, being in a movie or Netflix series. I wanna have my own show so people could watch and look into my life a little bit more.

The Knockturnal: Have you considered creating a YouTube series?

Ron Suno: I’m working on a YouTube series as we speak, I’m gonna have a lot of pranks a lot of vlogs, it’s more about my personal life that I can’t really put on social m media, but I can put on my YouTube. I’m gonna make a YouTube for that and that’s gonna help everything build.
