Poor Things Celebrates Opening Weekend With An Immersive Experience In Brooklyn

The film stars Emma Stone and has exceeded all expectations

This past weekend Searchlight Pictures opened the doors to the “Salon of Seduction” to celebrate the release of the film Poor Things.  The “Salon of Seduction” ran from Wednesday December 6th to December 10th and transformed Maison Premiere in Brooklyn into a sensual and ethereal brothel where guests were able to immerse themselves into the Poor Things world.

Upon entering the experience, guests were guided into a peep-show style room where they were treated to an immersive performance that was accompanied by a curated three-course tasting menu.  Each course was thoughtfully crafted and was inspired by the film’s heroine, Bella.  After each course, guests were treated to a unique performance piece that enhances the dish and gives a glimpse into particular moments in the film.  And for those unfamiliar with the new film, Poor Things is the latest masterpiece from filmmaker Yorgos Lanthimos.  The story centers itself around Bella Baxter (Emma Stone), a young woman brought back to life by the brilliant and unorthodox scientist, Dr. Godwin Baxter (Willem Dafoe).  Under Baxter’s protection, Bella is eager to learn. Hungry for the worldliness she is lacking, Bella runs off with Duncan Wedderburn (Mark Ruffalo), a slick and debauched lawyer, on a whirlwind adventure across the continents. Free from the prejudices of her times, Bella grows steadfast in her purpose to stand for equality and liberation.

Starring and produced by Emma Stone, Poor Things has already been lauded as one of the best film releases of 2023 and has already received award nominations from the Golden Globes.
