On The Scene: Playlist Live 2017 [Orlando Edition]

On May 5th  I flew to Orlando from NYC to attend Playlist Live 2017 (May 5th-7th).

This was my second time going to Playlist live in Orlando. Last year it was a blast so it was on the top of my list to attend this year. This time around I knew exactly what to expect. I knew my way around the venue, (Marriot World Resort Center) and I was much more prepared. Out of all the social media events that I’d been to, I must say that this one is my favorite. It’s more chill. Creators and supporters can meet each other and take photos, hang out etc. Of course, there are panels and meet and greets organized but it seems like the supporters enjoyed bumping into their favorite YouTubers or musers in the lobby or on their way to their next destination.

I got there on Thursday night which was the day before the event officially started. Friday was a business day for companies and sponsors etc to do their thing. I wasn’t too involved with that.

Saturday night was a blast, there was a pool party with some familiar faces as DJs, including Mahogany Lox and 99 Goonsquad. I was up there with all of them near the DJ booth because of course I was granted a press pass to be able to capture all of the amazing moments.

The people in the pool seemed to be enjoying themselves and the music, and the people huddled around in groups on the poolside were also turnt up.

There was a wide range of age groups, there were creators of all ages, supporters or all ages and parents of the younger attendees all enjoying themselves.

Later that night there was an exclusive party by Fullscreen a youtube network. I was fortunate enough to meet Tyler from the Live.me app who hooked me up with a wristband which granted me access to that party. I was able to join my friend and fellow younower Zo aka @gotdamnzo at the party. The music was lit and the visuals were outstanding. There were dancers dressed in costumes on stage and a live performance by Mims. He performed his hit song “This Is Why I’m Hot.”

That night ended with a late night run via Uber to Ihop and back to the hotel to rest up for the next day.

Sunday was a day of more panels, performances, giveaways and more. It was also the day that I was supposed to return to NY, however, my friend Zo and a few other ended up convincing me to stay another day which I was happy about because we went to Universal Studios which was only a $10 Uber ride away from the resort that Playlist Live was held at.

Throughout the event, there were performances by different social media stars. Some have been transitioning into music. Zach Clayton is one of them. his music is very catchy and I see him being one to watch in entertainment.

To sum it up, I would highly recommend everyone go and check out Playlist Live. It’s the place to be. It was fun, safe and productive. Everyone was friendly and everything went smoothly. There will be another Playlist-Live in DC on Sept 1-3 and I look forward to being there as well!
