Pink Taco Makes Its Debut In Times Square

If you’re looking for delicious Mexican food at the heart of NYC, look no further

Pink Taco is a restaurant that many people are familiar with across the country.  Having locations in Florida, Boston, California, and Washington DC, it is no surprise that the next location would be in Times Square, New York.  This new location features two floors of seating space that takes up over 10,000 sqft.  The interior sports a very industrial vibe that is brightened up by colorful neon lights all over.  And the addition of a live DJ, skull shaped disco ball, and vibrant art helps create a party vibe inside the restaurant.  The music from the DJ can be heard on both floors and features classic tunes from some of the biggest artists on the radio.

The drink menu featured a number of exciting and tasty cocktails, from classic drinks like the house margarita to more inventive cocktails like The Frozen Strawberry which is slushed and served in a pineapple.  One of our favorite drinks from the menu was the Frozen Guava Sangria which is made with guava nectar and sparkling rose.  The drink was bubbly, fruity, and so refreshing making it the perfect drink to order on a warm summer day.  The drink menu at Pink Taco also features some exciting takes on classic cocktails such as The Lexis Spritz with Martini Rossi Fiero, mango puree, sparkling wine, and topped with soda and the Espresso Tequila Martini made with El Jimador tequila, caffe espresso liqueur, and Disaronno Velvet.  And for those that like a good margarita, there is an entire section of the menu dedicated to margaritas.  From that selection, we highly recommend the Cock Fight made with cazadores silver, tangerines, cucumber, and fresh lime.  This drink was citrussy sweet from the tangerine and included notes of bright acidity and vibrant cucumber flavor.

The food menu at Pink Taco has something for everyone.  Before ordering, we were brought chips and salsa for the table.  The chips were fresh and crunchy without being oily and the salsa was addictive having a medium level of heat that plays with some of the sweeter notes from the tomatoes.  For starters we opted for the Queso Bean Dip made with pink taco cheese sauce, pinto beans, pico de gallo, and green onions.  This order was one of our favorites being incredibly cheesy and luscious.  The beans were seasoned perfectly and added great texture to the dish and the fresh green onions and pico de gallo added a great brightness and acidity to the dish.

For our mains we chose The OG Pink Taco and the Birria Taco.  The OG Pink is a fan favorite both for the flavor as well as the presentation.  The crispy taco shells are a vibrant hot pink that makes for a perfect Instagram moment.  The shredded chicken was so moist and delicious and married perfectly with some of the other traditional taco toppings like avocado, jack cheese, romaine lettuce, and pickled red onions.  The Birria is one of our favorite tacos to try and Pink Taco did not disappoint.  The dish is made with slow cooked brisket, avocado, cotija cheese, pickled red onions, and served with the classic consommé on the side.  The tortillas were soft and tender and absorbed a lot of the amazing flavor and juices coming from the brisket.  The meat was cooked perfectly and seasoned so well where the savoriness from the meat burst with every bite.  The best part was dipping the taco into the consommé where the tortillas absorbed all of the savory juices from it and accentuated the flavors from the brisket.

Pink Taco also features some delicious dessert treats which include their fried ice cream, drunken brownie, tres leches churro, and pink taco sundae.  All of these desserts are the perfect way to finish off your Pink Taco experience so save room for dessert.

Our lasting thoughts of Pink Taco is that we would definitely come back and sample more of the menu.  The look and feel inside Pink Taco was chic, modern, but also very inviting.  The servers and staff were all incredibly helpful and insightful, especially with giving recommendations.  And the energy inside was fun and vibrant, especially with the DJ spinning tunes all night long.
