“Over the last three years we have mounted a statistical campaign to show where women fall out of the system in entertainment,” stated Women in Film Los Angeles President Cathy Schulman.  “It is really helping. It is not just Hollywood – it’s the whole country that is requiring us to make media that is not only made by women, but for women, girls as well as boys and men.”

One of the last to arrive, actress Jennifer Lawrence abstained from giving a long speech and was applauded from the stage. She recounted how she was such a fan of Patricia Arquette’s and how she had played a younger version of Arquette once. She continued that she “Loves that Arquette stood up,” proclaiming “We’re starting a conversation, we’re getting a dialogue going. … I didn’t know I was going to be (speaking). … Equal pay for women!”
