Now that’s iconic: Los Angeles Magazine held its annual L.A. Woman luncheon on Friday, celebrating the dynamic and influential women of this creative city and honored its #sliving March cover star, Paris Hilton. Held at the Beverly Hilton, the event recognized her leadership in wildfire recovery efforts following January’s LA wildfires, along with spotlighting other women who’ve made an impact throughout the city and beyond. A pre-luncheon networking event and cocktail hour kickstarted the day, followed by a three-course menu and a series of panels with a selection of L.A. Woman honorees.

Altadena Girls co-founders, fourteen-year-old Avery Colvert and her mother Lauren Sandidge, introduced Paris at the event before her conversation with Los Angeles Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief Jasmin Rosemberg. The event was also attended by City Councilmember Traci Park, Christopher Gialanella, Scheana Shay and Heather McDonald.

There were plenty of laughs and playful moments during the Q&A panel, including a toast to Paris’ catchphrase “sliving” and guests enthusiastically calling out “that’s hot.” And Paris also revealed some special advice her mom, Kathy Hilton, gave her right before The Simple Life premiered in the early aughts. “My mom told me, ‘Paris, the show airs on Fox tomorrow, your life is going to change forever. And I always want you to just remain the same sweet and down-to-earth girl you are. And never forget that.’”

Paris also counted her mom and grandma as among her role models: “I’ve always looked up to my mother and my grandma, they both shaped the woman that I am today and both just have the biggest hearts and always make me laugh and have the best time and they’re both are incredible mothers and my role models and my mom always taught me the importance of giving back.”

The mom of two also shared that she and her husband first found out that her family’s Malibu home had burned down on the news. “I could just see our blue door and the rest of it was just ashes. It was just shocking, heartbreaking, just thinking of all the memories we built together. But right away, I started thinking about people who have lost so much more and my heart was breaking for all the moms and all of their children who had nowhere to sleep that night and who had lost everything.”

Since then, the woman who’s often dubbed the “Coachella Queen” has worked to uplift numerous companies that were impacted by the fire, such as wearing a custom, skin-baring catsuit to Weekend 1’s Neon Carnival, in support of designer Hana O’Connor who lost her business in the fire.

Paris also teamed up with Baby2Baby, a Los Angeles-based nonprofit that provides basic necessities like diapers, toys and clothing to kids in need — and connected with the Pasadena Humane Society to foster a dog named Zuzu, along with being the first celebrity to put the spotlight on Altadena Girls, which of course quickly went viral.
