Fashion week may have ended but it’s sweet memory remains.
For NYC fashion lovers, NYFW is like Christmas morning every. single. day. for an entire week. Santa could never. On February 7, Oxford Fashion Studio hosted their Spring collection at Pier 59, and let me just tell you, it was AMAZING. What’s better than a show with one designer? A show with ten. Brands included Mayan the Label, Matt Safara, Rene Tyler, Manishii, and more. The show featured womenswear, jewelry, and accessories, and plus-size red carpet looks. If my wardrobe consisted solely of the clothes featured in this show, I would be living on cloud 9.
Oxford Fashion Studio’s goal is to give a platform to independent fashion designers to showcase their work. Over the past 10 years, the fashion group has built up a pretty impressive resume. The studio has worked with close to 700 designers, from over 70 different countries.
Included in the show was fashion designer Matt Sarafa. There is no question as to why celebrities such as Tyra Banks and Iggy Azalea have been dressed by the designer, considering the Spring 2020 collection was to die for. His use of furs and rhinestones was incredibly chic and had the entire crowd in awe. Mayan the Label, a Saudi Arabian designer, was also featured in the show. The spring collection, “Faded” gave a contemporary twist to traditional Arabic fashion. The chic and modest collecting included stunning embellished coats and dresses. Rene’ Tyler’s plus size collection stole the show with the models absolutely working the runway. The “Noir et Blanc” collection was inspired by the Parisian lifestyle and focuses on inclusivity. It was great to be at a show that had styles for every person and every curve.
