This year has seen some amazing projects across all genres.
However, it’s also been a cesspool of exceptionally bad albums. I think Anthony Fantano (The Needle Drop) really hits the mark with this list. I mainly say that admittingly because of what sits at the number one spot. I’d say “spoilers”, but it’s no surprise Kid Cudi’s audial excrement of an album. Most importantly, Anthony offers concrete criticism as to why these albums deserve their less than glamorous positions.
I’ve been a fan of Anthony’s for a minute now, and I’m always happy to listen to his musical opinions. I even enjoy having him rip into albums I love, because while Anthony presents his reviews as personal opinion, I do find that he makes an attempt at being as objective as possible.
If nothing else it’s entertaining watching Anthony tear apart records that over obviously been grating on his mind. There’s no better way to bring together a family during the holidays than discussing music. That’s second to having an argument about politics.
Jokes aside, Anthony is a great example of an honest music journalist. If you enjoy the video you should definitely subscribe to the channel and check out his previous reviews.
