The magic of music was perfectly in tune.
On Dec. 19, Staten Island’s Dr. Carlos M. Barrera, co-owner of OneCare Health-Advanced Practice Health & Wellness, alongside managing partners Christian DeFournoy, NP and Timothy Aldrich, NP, joined forces with artists Bobby Shmurda, ThePlugDino and Uno-One for a sweet Christmas toy giveaway in Queens, New York.
The urgent care clinic with the help and collaboration of it sponsors donated over 400 toys, clothing items, and gift cards to the children and families at The Merrick Academy Charter School.
“I am thankful to now be in a position to own my own clinic and to give back at a larger scale not only from a medical perspective but from a humanitarian perspective,” said Dr. Barrera said. “ I am a firm believer in philanthropy and pro-bono work. I have made it my life mission to answer my calling of caring and giving both as a physician and human.”
The event marks the urgent cares’ second annual Christmas toy giveaway, and Bobby Shmurda’s fourth annual Christmas giving event making it a tradition for OneCare Health-APHW and the Brooklyn rapper.
Christian DeFournoy, NP, co-owner of OneCare Health-APHW quoted the late American educator; Booker T. Washington during the presentation: “Those who are the happiest are those who do most for others.”
The clinic has established itself with a goal in mind to always give back to its communities and has tirelessly continued to work in accomplishing this commitment during these difficult times. Timothy A. Aldich, NP, co-owner of OneCare Health-APHW, said, “The greatest accomplishment of ours is to be a stellar example to our future, the children, as they are our legacy. We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the sponsors involved, that helped us achieve our goal and our mission.”

This follows philanthropists working alongside the company to help local communities. Just last month, OneCare Health-APHW donated over 1000 turkeys in its second annual turkey-drive drawing in a celebrity presence at their clinic as well.
