On The Scene: The McKittrick Hotel Presents The Witches’ Ball [Photos]

Our friends over at the McKittrick Hotel hosted us at their annual The Witches’ Ball and boy was it witchy!

The costume inspiration for the evening was: “Dress up to dazzle, bewitch, or betray, dress as the damned soul, that has wandered astray, the hellion, the heathen, or debaucherous drag, come sparkling, come broken, or come scantily clad.” Attendees did not disappoint.

As Maximilian’s guest, we were able to to arrive any time between 8:00pm and 12:30am and go straight to the head of the line. We also enjoyed access to Oz’s Boudoir bar for the evening. We loved being VIP’s. We felt very safe attending this event since every guest had to rapid test within 24 hours, show ID and be vaccinated. The NYC COVID SAFE app allowed for seamless check in as well.

The party had a very cool video photo booth and step and repeat. There were also multiple rooms with different bars, DJ’s, performances and experiences. The scene was moody and dark. When we entered the hotel a neon sign read “The Calm Before the Storm.” The next room featured blue lighting. A live band called MKGO played old rock music like Shocking Blue’s “Venus.” When the band took a break a Bossa nova artist performed tracks like “Girl From Ipanema.” The next room featured dramatic red lighting. A message written on one of the walls read “You Remember, Don’t You?” In this room, “I’m Watching You,” was written on one of the mirrors. Per usual the production design and set pieces in The McKittrick were phenomenal. The chandelier had little hands lining it and we truly felt the halloween spirit.

The next area that we checked out was more of a club vibe with dancers on stage and people dancing in the audience. Before we left for the evening, we spent some time in Oz’s Boudoir bar. It was a nice area to relax and drink whisky! It even had a bed on which guests could sit and talk.

Overall, it was an unforgettable evening. We can’t wait for next year!
