Son Jung wan debuted her Fall / Winter 19 collection which immediately created a romantic atmosphere. The collection showcased an array of mixed faux fur contrasted with sequins and bold prints.
The show brought about a playfulness and dramatic notion through the use of juxtaposed fabrics, retro ambiguity and puzzled cut seams. In addition to the engaging fabric choice Wan selected a color palette of bright orange, blue, green and hues of grey symbolizing vintage pop art culture.
The silhouettes imbued femininity, in contrast to this many styles had sporty seams such as jersey style color blocking, drop shoulder kimono like sleeves, and raglan pullovers created in fur and sequin fabric emphasizing a soft sport luxe vibe. Textile art was also a clear focus this season with several pieces featuring a mixed flocking notion with a clean base textile providing an intriguing visual exuberance.
Velvet dresses were accompanied with colorful fur sleeve ‘cuffs’ and fur tops were complimented with voluminous sequin bottoms, drawing parallel to the retro music scene and the associated color palette.
Sitting front row was an influx of models such as Miss universe Catorina Gray, Miss USA Sarah Rose Summers and Miss teen USA Hailey Colborn, alongside a plethora of influencers who were eager to see what the next look down the runway featured whether it be sequins, fur or prints.
Prior to the show we explored the backstage area which was like walking through a wonderland of sparkle and velvet. The hair styling was created with minimalist notions, hair was styled slick back with a twist like braid on the models right above the forehead. The make-up was kept natural with hints of eyeliner above the lid embodying the clothing without taking attention away from the silhouettes such as oversized collars and romantic gown like creations.
