On The Scene: NYFWM LANDLORD Autumn/Winter 2019

Last night at New York Fashion Week Mens Autumn/Winter 2019 LANDLORD unveiled its Campus-Educated Casual Collection.

Held at Pier 59’s studio B, LANDLORD’s AW 2019 presentation was a must-see Tuesday night. Notable guests in attendance included POSE’s Billy Porter and Jeremy McClain as well as Lil Mosey, Malachai Spivey, Javale McGee, and many others.

LANDLORD creative director Ryohei Kawanishi went back to school for the brand’s 7th collection. Takin inspiration from his daughter, he wanted this collection to showcase student style from elementary school until graduate school. The whimsy and childlike imagination is prevalent this season as Kawanishi deconstructs student/class style.

The collection utilizes playful colors and shapes inspired by children’s toys. Blazers and coats are repurposed for pants as this patchwork-esque style represents the youthfulness of the collection. The highlight of LANDLORD’s Autumn/Winter 2019 are the “leather coats, exhibiting superior tanning craftsmanship in lively neon colors.”

Another noteworthy take away was that this season’s collection was styled by fashion icon Mike The Ruler. For those of you who don’t know, Mike The Ruler was one of the first New York kids to experience insta fame in 2014 at the tender of age of 13 for his curated fits.

Jewelry featured in the show included “neckties as chain necklaces, and links blocks, keychains, and money turned into bracelets and belts” created by designer Kota Okuda.
