On The Scene: Lil Yachty ‘Let’s Start Here’ Listening Experience

Last Week Quality Control Music/Motown Records artist Lil Yachty Celebrated the Release of his latest album Let’s Start Here with an exclusive listening party at Liberty Science Center in New Jersey. Lil Yachty posted on his Instagram earlier in the week announcing to his fans that he would be hosting three listenings in the New York/New Jersey area with “fine dining.” Within a matter of 5 minutes Yachty posted the listening experience was “sold out.”

Fans and VIPs flocked to New Jersey on Thursday to experience Yachty’s latest album and it did not disappoint. Not only was the venue the most original location for a listening party to date, the experience itself was truly unforgettable. Before entering the planetarium where the visuals and music were being screened, guest were greeted with an overwhelming amount of “fine dining” such as endless candy, cereal boxes and milk, cotton candy, rap snacks and popcorn, doughnut holes, cookies and uncrustables. It was truly a teenage dream come to life. Once seated in the planetarium, Yachty came out to greet his guests and introduce his album before heading upstairs to sit with his special guests and VIPs.

Over the course of the three listening sessions special guests included Drake, Lil Baby, Offset, P and Coach K to name a few. Everyone came out to show love and support Yachty’s beautiful new album. The album itself not only sounded amazing as Yachty pushed the boundaries of his previous work, it was truly a treat as the visuals playing above in the planetarium took listeners on a journey through what felt like Yachty’s soul. From the depths of space to a ferris wheel ride to the bottom of the ocean floor to an animated world with giant flowers to candy adorned mountains, this experience was truly a trip. What can only be described as “A deep, introspective and expansive Psychedelic Alternative album” Let’s Start Here takes you on a ride both sonically and visually as Yachty releases accompanying visuals like “Say Something.”

“This project was inspired by Yachty’s love of Pink Floyd’s “Dark Side of the Moon” as well as multiple psychedelic journeys producing this ambitious and intimate album.” Executive produced by SADPONY, Let’s Start Here is unlike any of Yachty’s previous work and shows his evolution as an artist and star that he truly is.
