On The Scene: HBO’s Sex and The City Celebrates 25 Years in NYC

In celebration of the 25th anniversary of Sex and the City as well as the upcoming premiere of the second season of And Just Like That, Max will give fans the chance to experience one of the most fabulous franchises on television through the And Just Like That…It’s Been 25 Years, A Sex and the City Experience” event.

During this week’s event, guests had the opportunity to take photos at the recreation of Carrie’s Brownstone stoop as well as in her apartment, including a photo opportunity in front of her infamous laptop, which was on display during the event. In addition to continuing on their journey, guests also had the opportunity to enter Carrie’s Closet Experience, where guests will be able to enter a dream-like experience that highlights the characters’ best fashion from all seasons of Sex and the City.

As a result of HBO’s use of artificial intelligence technology to create content, lower-resolution Sex and the City footage is taken to new levels by using the advanced AI technologies. Using an impressive 4k resolution, the creative team was able to upscale the original 24p footage to a stunning 4k resolution and create slow-motion video from that footage. By using this technology, they were able to slow down the footage to as little as 30% of the original speed, allowing the artists and editors to display the footage at a higher quality on the ten-foot LED screens.

But fans were in for a treat. Sarah Jessica Parker and the costume designers of Sex and The City along with And Just Like That were in attendance as a panel took place at this experience as they all talked about the two shows and how they are reaching Gen Z now since this generation are accustomed to social media.
