On The Scene: Glam Slam 2022

IMG and Spring Studios joined together for the creation of the event: ‘Glam Slam’.

The event was created to celebrate the intersection of tennis and style through tennis match screenings, fashion panels, food, cocktails, and awesome DJ sets. The ‘Glam Slam’ took place from Thursday, September 8th – Monday, September 12th 2022, on the Rooftop Terrace of Spring Studios in Tribeca. IMG and Spring Studios also partnered with Cash Sapphire to develop these unique programs, and a beautiful tennis style rooftop to span fashion and sports, to give attendees the best of both worlds! The ambiance was blue, lime green, white, followed by a tennis court-style set up for the panelists and moderator.

We attended the Saturday Glam Slam featuring Tennis Legend, Juan Martin Del Porto. The session began with a 90 minute DJ set from Gonnie Garko. Music played from House, EDM, Latin, and Afrobeats. Powered by, Maison Kitsuné, the French-Japanese brand also offered a mini pop-up retail shop of tennis inspired clothing for sale during the glam event. Porto is formerly known as #3 in the world and is the winner of 22 professional tournaments, including the 2009 U.S. Open. Moderated by visual artist and publisher Vincente Munoz, the two dived deep into his tennis career, and of course, talked about his favorite brands he’s worn during his matches!

Porto shares “Honestly, we never picked an outfit. We have big companies and designers who worked for us. When we get to the tournament they bring our outfits and say for the U.S Open you will wear these colors, these shorts, etc.” Porto also adds, “But I think tennis courts are improving in terms of designers. A long time ago it was classy, and a little bit boring to wear clothes and to watch. Because in Wimbledon you have to wear all white. But here in the U.S. Open you see a lot of colors! I think brands are getting used to this and it’s the future.”

Additional sighting: Guests at NYFW also were able to enjoy the Grand Marnier signature NYFW cocktails The margarita was designed by stylist Jason Rembert.

The Grand 75 in the champagne flute is also super easy to recreate at home:

  • 1.5 oz Grand Marnier
  • 0.5 oz Fresh lemon juice
  • 2-3 oz Champagne
