On The Scene: Ella Vos Headlines Spotify x Tic Tac Party

Ella Vos brings the entertain-mint and Tic-Tac brings the refresh-mint to The Mint LA.

About a year and a half ago, right after her 2018 tour, Ella Vos posted some news on Instagram: she was diagnosed with lymphoma. She planned on spending some time to heal and write a lot of songs.  One of the tunes, “Temporary,” was inspired by the line doctors and friends told her again and again during her cancer treatments: “This is temporary.”

That same message was echoed on Wednesday, December 4th, during Ella Vos’ performance and a celebration at The Mint: You might be going through a major change with no light at the end of the tunnel. and that the experience will be temporary.  But at the end of that tunnel? “It might not be what you’re looking for, but it’ll be exactly what you need,” Vos advised that night before launching into “Temporary.”

Those that sloshed through the LA rain to hear that message at The Mint LA found an intimate set, themed cocktails, delicious snacks, fun Instagrammable experiences, and (almost) a lifetime supply of Tic Tacs courtesy of the unique collaboration between streaming music giant Spotify and Tic Tac.

From the heaters outside to the light-up mixing straws in the custom drink, the Refresh-mint, The Mint LA provided a bit of a glow on an otherwise dreary night.  Dubbed Hear For It, the collaboration paired cool tones with cool taste: The Mint LA transformed into a shrine to the minty Tic Tac, complete with multiple opportunities for engage-mint like Instagram ready sets (like being trapped in a Tic Tac box) and a photo of Ella Vos made from 350,000 Tic Tacs courtesy of Jason Mecier.

And of course, Ella Vos brought the entertain-mint. Playing to a small group meant everyone was in the “first row,” right next to the stage, especially after Vos beckoned everyone forward with “you guys can come in closer!”  We did, after all, now have fresh breath.

At the end of her set, Vos opened a Tic Tac box and dumped out the contents, white mints trickling onto the floor.  It wasn’t the first and likely wouldn’t be the last time someone caused Tic Tacs to rain: the second night of the Tic Tac and Spotify collaboration continued on Thursday, December 5th with a Fruity themed evening.  We hope fans had a grape time!
