On The Scene: ‘Babylon’ Premiere at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures 

Last week, The Knockturnal attended the premiere of Babylon held at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures with a lot of the cast and crew in attendance as well.

In attendance were Margot Robbie, Tobey Maguire, Brad Pitt, and director/writer Damien Chazelle. In addition was many of the other cast such as Diego Calva, P.J. Byrne, Eric Roberts, Olivia Wilde as well as some of the talent behind the screen like editor Tom Cross and Producer Matthew Plouffe. 

Babylon is the newest epic film about the decadence, depravity, and outrageous excess lead to the rise and fall of several ambitious dreamers in 1920s Hollywood. The film stars Margot Robbie (Nellie LaRoy), Brad Pitt (Jack Conrad), and Diego Calva (Manny Torres), and was written/directed by Academy Award Winner Damien Chazelle (Whiplash, La La Land), who makes his return to the big screen for the first time since his incredible biopic First Man.

Prior to the screening, The Knockturnal spoke with with some of the cast and crew to hear what they had to say about Damien Chazelle’s ambitious epic film, which clocks in at over three hours! When asked to describe the film in one sentence, Eric Roberts said “Sexy and fun!”

Lead Diego Calva shared some of his feelings towards being a rising latino star, who had the opportunity to work with names like Brad Pitt and Tobey Maguire, describing it as a door opening, and something he’s been waiting to happen for a long time.
