On The Scene: 2020 Queerty Awards With Kathy Griffin

The lights shown bright, the cameras flashed, and the music pulsated through the air, which was filled with excitement and anticipation as the “The Queerties” ceremony and party kicked off.

Dozens strutted the star-studded red carpet, in their finest attire, at the 2020 annual LGBTQ entertainment award reception recently. Presented by Queerty.com and sponsored by SkyyVodka, this fabulous award ceremony and cocktail reception was held in the beautiful Liason Hollywood venue. Designed to honor the very best in LGBTQ media and culture, 23 different categories of fun awards were given out throughout the evening. Hosted by Rupaul’s Drag Race star Ongina, the evening featured a live music performance by the band MUNA.

The guests were treated to delicious SkyyVodka cocktails and served yummy plated small bites while mingling inside the multi-colored, sexy, dimly lit reception space. After hitting the red carpet, the stars enjoyed their cocktails and bites inside, as well. Some of the notable people in attendance were: Kathy Griffin, Ongina, MUNA, Adrian Gonzalez, Andrew Gurza, Alaska, Arisce Wanzer, Brad Michael Elmore, Brea Grant, Brandon Kirby, Brianna Brown, Chani Nicholas, Chris Salvatore, Constance Wu, Christopher Larkin, Dan Gordh, Dexter Mayfield, Emile Ennis Jr, FHAT, Haaz Sleiman, Imara Jones and Daniela Capistrano, Isis King, Jai Rodriquez, Jason Caceres, Jason Potash, Jazzmyne Jay, Jen Richards, Jeremy McClain, Tom Lenk, Traci Lords, Stephen Guarino, Leo Sheng, Laith Ashley, Kit Williamson and many, many more!

Receiving the Queerty Resiliency Award was Ms. Kathy Griffin. She was presented the award by Traci Lords and walked onto the stage as “Work B*tch” by Britney Spears blasted throughout the venue. Griffin had the following to say during her acceptance speech:

“All right, gays, shut the f*** up, I’m here. Shut up. Hello, Queerties. I love that word because I feel as an ally, I’m also a Queerty. Alright, so, congratulations! I brought you some Oscar De La Renta, high cocktail. Wearing Giuseppe Zanotti shoes, which are fu***** killing me, so I guess he hates his mother. But for you, anything, Queerties. It’s such an honor to get the Resilience Award, holy fu** balls. I love that name. I love that name. It’s why I actually begged Traci to give it to me because she’s been through some resilient sh** too and come out of it, and she’s like my idol, so, thank you, Traci Lords. Yes, give love to Traci Lords. The one and only, the one and only! Alright, Queerties, this is a great night. Congratulations to everybody who’s participating. Like I said, be Queerty, be proud! And also, remember we are a community. The way that we go forward is by sticking together. And I would love to stand here and talk about the Kardashians or the Housewives, but dammit, Queerties, we have too much on the line. We stick together, we legislate, we vote, we vote down ballot, as well. County supervisor, city supervisor: all that stuff helps the Queerties. And let them know your agenda is the same as my agenda: equality! Stay powerful, stay resilient, and stay Queerty. Thank you!”

Queerty, owned by Q.Digital Inc., is the number one leading platform for and by LGBTQ people, in terms of an entertainment brand.
