Exclusive: Ola Runt Talks Upcoming Mixtape & Working With Gucci Mane

Ola Runt shares what he’s been working on.

Chances are you know who Ola Runt is, and if you don’t then you should. The Atlanta rapper recently signed with Cinematic Records and has caught the attention of Gucci Mane & 1017 Records. Gucci Mane recently hopped on Ola Runt’s “Feel Like Guwop” Remix, to show love to the tribute and executive produced Runt’s sophomore tape Beggin For a Body.

Ola Runt grew up listening to Atlanta, literally, he constantly showed love and supported anyone from his area that was making music, including Young Scooter, Future, and Alley Boy. Without a blueprint to work off of, Ola had to teach himself everything he now knows once he was released from prison in 2017. That was the turning point at which Ola decided to get his own studio and focus on his craft. In 2018 Ola began taking his music to the next level. After dropping his debut project Mama Tried earlier this year he started getting attention from some of the industry’s best like Gucci Mane. Today, Ola Runt joins us to talk about his most recent release Beggin For a Body as well as his upcoming tape Harder to Kill. Find out more below.

The Knockturnal: When did you start taking music seriously?

Ola Runt: I was released from prison in 2017 and I listened to my inner self and just took it all the way serious and got my own studio and started recording in 2018.

The Knockturnal: Did you ever have musical guidance or a big homie helping you with your music?

Ola Runt:  I never did music until I got out in 2017, I never had no musical guidance, but I used to look to people in my neighborhood who did music, who had the city watching them.

The Knockturnal: Growing up did you have any influences?

Ola Runt:  I grew up listening to Alley Boy, Young Scooter, and Future. I used to support whatever was coming out of where I’m from.

The Knockturnal: When making “Feel Like Guwop” did you ever think Gucci Mane would hear it, let alone be on the remix?

Ola Runt: I wanted him to just hear about it, but I never thought he’d get on the remix.

The Knockturnal: What what it like meeting Gucci Mane for the first time?

Ola Runt: My first time meeting Gucci Mane was at the “Feel Like Guwop” video shoot.

The Knockturnal: Can you talk about the Beggin For A Body tape? What are some of your favorite tracks?

Ola Runt: Gucci Mane came up with the name of the tape. He said I reminded him of himself and Beggin For a Body was a tape that he never got to drop, that he wanted to drop back in the day, and so he gave me that title. Some of my favorites off the tape are “Fire Truck” and “Lonely.”

The Knockturnal: Are there more visuals on the way?

Ola Runt: I got “Trap Cap,” “Fire Truck”- I got over 3 more videos off my tape dropping.

The Knockturnal: What are you currently working on?

Ola Runt: I’m working on my mixtape Harder To Kill, I’m tryna drop that this month. There’s not that many features on there, I’m just tryna shock them and go crazy, just in house people. I just wanna keep shocking folk. Turning everybody who said I can’t do it into fans one day.
