This past Tuesday, July 12, menswear designer Ricardo Seco brought awareness to the runways with his SS17 collection, entitled LIFE.
The presentation took place at Hotel Americano in Chelsea. Featuring colors ranging from grey and black, to pastel pink, to the prints of whale shark skin, Seco’s collection combined island feels with the essence of New York City lifestyle, paying homage to them both. Seco describes his line as “street meets urban sophistication.”
“This collection is meant to not only bring awareness to the island of Holbox and NYC, but to the importance of protecting our planet as a whole,” Seco stated.
As an added layer to the eye, the versatility that is streetwear pulled the collection together effortlessly, featuring many of the latest trends including oversized silhouettes, bomber jackets, and athletic-inspired shorts.
Interestingly enough, Ricardo Seco – born in the city of Torreón, Mexico – was the only Mexican designer featured during NYFW:M. In total, Seco has shown 10 seasons, each collection combining the richness of Mexican culture with its new contemporary sophistication.
Overall, Tuesday’s collection was a beautiful display of the celebration of life, culture, and consciousness.
