NYFWM: Landlord Presents Fall/Winter 2017 Collection

On Wednesday, February 1, LANDLORD debuted its Fall/Winter 2017 collection at Skylight Clarkson Square in New York City.

Pulling inspiration from the hip-hop fashion scene of the 90’s-00’s, Creative Director, Ryohei Kawanishi, brought to life the true impact of what he sees day-to-day in his neighborhood in Harlem NY. The fashion and style influence of Southern hip-hop artists was clear throughout the collection. From nylon tracksuits, to hoodies and fur vests, to coats with utilitarian vibes, LANDLORD’s Fall/Winter 2017 collection fuses this hip-hop aesthetic with its utilitarian DNA to present streetwear through a fresh lens.

This season, LANDLORD also debuted a capsule collection inspired by Kawanishi’s 2010 London visit to the James Howard exhibit at Saatchi Gallery. The artist’s cut-copy-paste style of digital artwork and its nod to the “bling bling” era of hip-hop album covers resulted in a LANDLORD x JAMES HOWARD collaboration between the two artists. This collaboration includes graphic t-shirts and hoodies that can be seen throughout the Fall/Winter 2017 collection.

Overall, the crowd, the looks, and the vibes of LANDLORD’s presentation Wednesday evening were fun and quintessentially cool.
