Daniel Hechter showcased its spring/summer 2018 collection at Dune Studios during New York Fashion Week: Men’s. As Daniel Hechter was new to this season’s New York Men’s Day roster I marked it down as a brand to watch. Although new to me Daniel Hechter Paris is a French label with 50+ years under their belt.
The aesthetic for this collection was downtown prep with a European sensibility. Vibrant, bold and geared toward the millennial guy who isn’t afraid to bring his own kind of cool to every look he puts together. Bright colors along with unique patterns played a major role in the line. There were many different patterns to choose from, but my favorite was a psychedelic computerized floral design inspired by pattern designer Camilla Frances. The brand is also known for its use of different fabrications, textures, and its unique attention to detail which was evident.
The collection featured chino trousers, lightweight knits, crew neck sweaters, polos, button down dress shirts, tailored shorts, versatile jackets, and blazers, all of which are perfect for optimizing your outfit combinations. Amongst my favorite looks, was a blue on blue on blue relaxed fit casual pant suit, a cherry red blazer paired with dark denim slim fit jeans, cuffed at the ankle, and a royal blue windbreaker bomber, that is reversible to provide two different looks in one garment.
Overall, the Daniel Hechter spring/summer 2018 collection is for the extremely stylish and savvy, modern male of today.
