For 2016’s Men’s Fashion Week, we started at Industria Superstudios in the Meatpacking District, NYC. Here we experienced New York Men’s Day, brought to you by Cadillac, exploring several presentations. Check out our notes on CWST ‘s Fall/Winter 2016 collection!
CWST‘s set design was shoved to a very corner of a huge room- dimly lit, with shadowy illumination beaconing you towards the fashion.
Once in the CWST studio and after a short trek through the well-soundtracked space reaching the models, one is confronted with a lush, low field of ferns, a wonderful introduction to CWST’s philosophy, approachable, adventurous, wild. Alas, it’s not summer- it’s winter. So here, fashion was forced to bundle up- high and tight haircuts hidden by black beanie hats. Layering of plaid (a trend…) bury grays and blacks. Cropped wool pants, tattered and frail scarves long enough to touch the ground. The brand seeks conservatism in an inhospitable environment. The environment is inspired by an island in Puget Sound, shrouded sun, present shadows.
The looks were were clean, with Converse shoes in black, so practical and clean. The wearing man is rugged but well protected, willing to drive a JEEP but would never turn down a G-Wagen. We love this flexibility. It’s street wear for when there are no streets.
