For one of the most epic runway shows this past FW22 NYFW, it only made sense that Celebrity Hairstylist, Lacy Redway for TRESemmé create the “Icy Knot” look for LaQuan Smith’s FW 22 runway show.

LaQuan Smith’s runway collection drew inspiration from the ’70s and ’80s après ski glam, which inspired Redway’s sleek, high gloss,  and “icy” knot. With TRESemmé being a long-time NYFW sponsor, Redway had an arsenal of their latest and greatest hair styling products to create the iconic glam look for LaQuan Smith FW22.

“I wanted the hair to compliment the glamour that we know and love from LaQuan Smith. We kept it bold, sleek and frozen in place, without a single strand out of place.”

I was especially excited to chat with Redway backstage following TRESemmé’s 2021 second annual Future Stylists Fund, which awarded 10 black female stylists $10,000 scholarships to a cosmetology school of their choice.  With

Redway being one of the members of TRESemmé’s FSF committee I was sure to ask her about the excitement of being the lead hairstylist for a major black designer, LaQuan Smith, during Black History Month. Redway shared not only how important it is for her to create opportunities for women of color in the hair industry but also why “It’s important for me to know that there’s enough people backstage that understands all hair types and hair textures.” Redway also shared “As a hairstylist, my partnership with TRESemmé is so important because we make sure to take care of all the models backstage so no one feels like they have come with their hair already styled because there won’t be someone backstage with the knowledge to style a variety of hair textures.”

As for the gorgeous makeup, Celebrity Makeup Artist, Sheika Daley created a striking eye look against glowing skin that was prepped using 111 Skin’s Sub-Zero De-Eye Puffing Mask.

Along with Julia Fox, Amelia Gray Hamlin, Chloe Cherry, and Frida Assen all walked for LaQuan Smith’s FW 22 runway show. Look below for a breakdown of how you can achieve the LaQuan Smith “Icy Knot” using TRESemmé’s runway-worthy hair styling products.

The Breakdown:

Step 1: Begin with TRESemmé One Step Smooth and work it through the hair so there is moisture from roots to ends before creating the style.

Step 2: Apply TRESemmé TRES TWO Mega Control Gel throughout before brushing hair back using a boar bristle brush to smooth out any texture to the crown of the head. Once hair is completely smooth, secure with a hair tie and split the ponytail in half.

Step 3: Wrap the two parts into themselves, creating a knot. Secure the knot with hairpins and freeze the style in place with TRESemmé TRES TWO Freeze Hold Hair Spray.

Step 4: Complete the look with TRESemmé Keratin Smooth Shine Serum to create the icy effect.
