NYFF 2022: Whoopi Goldberg, Tosin Cole, Keith Beauchamp & More Chat New Movie ‘Till’

The Knockturnal was on the scene at this year’s 60th New York Film Festival at Lincoln Center for the Premiere of TILL directed by Chinonye Chukwu.

Inside we spoke with cast and crew Whoppi Goldberg, Tosin Cole, Danielle Deadwyler, Keith Beauchamp, and more.

TILL, based on the true story of Emmet Till, follows Mamie Till-Mobley in her relentless pursuit of justice for her 14-year-old son who, in 1955 was lynched while visiting his cousins in Mississippi and whose body became an indelible image of the horrors of American racism. This profoundly emotional and cinematic film showcases the universal power of a mother’s ability to change the world in the face of unspeakable devastation. Employing a direct, unflinching, yet sensitive glaze Chinonye Chukwu’s hope for the film is that “viewers will empathize with the humanities on screen and see our present cultural and political realities within this film. She also adds “that Mamie’s story helps us all to realize the power within ourselves to continue to fight for the change we want to see in the world, just as she did”.
