‘Now You See Me: Now You Don’t’ Reunites the Original Horsemen With New Magic and Big Surprises

The illusion is alive again.

After years of speculation, excitement, and a long-growing fan demand, Now You See Me: Now You Don’t officially brings the original cast back together. For fans of the franchise, this third film feels less like a sequel and more like a reunion tour of the clever, explosive, high-energy magic that made the first two movies cult favorites.  Dave Franco, who once again steps into the role of master illusionist and reluctant wildcard Jack Wilder, says the return feels deeply personal. “I have known this core cast for nearly 15 years now and I genuinely adore all of them so I think that our real affection for each other does show on screen,” Franco shared.

And that affection isn’t the only thing audiences will notice. While familiar faces are back, this chapter expands the mythology and raises the stakes with standout new additions Ariana Greenblatt, Justice Smith and The Holdovers breakout star Dominic Sessa. The newcomers step into a world built on deception, trust, and ego — and early reactions suggest they hold their own among the veteran tricksters.

But the biggest shock? A fan favorite is stepping back into the spotlight.

Lizzy Caplan is officially reprising her role as Lula May — the sarcastic, sharp-edged magician who electrified the second film and quickly became a franchise icon. Caplan’s return has already sent fans into a celebratory spiral online. And for good reason; her version of Lula isn’t just a character — she’s a personality people connect to. Personality-driven magic is rare, and Caplan brings it with intention. “They let us fill these characters with as much of ourselves as we want,” she said, hinting that Lula may evolve even further in this new chapter. With a growing ensemble, playful mischief behind the scenes is inevitable — even when it comes to fantasy casting. When asked who they’d add to the lineup if they could create their own new Horsemen, the answers were equal parts sweet and surprising. Dave Franco chose romance over strategy and said the next Horseman should be his wife, actor Alison Brie. Lizzy Caplan, on the other hand? She went with a more surprising answer and chose John Stamos.

As audiences gear up for a new round of cons, card tricks, and calculated chaos, one thing is clear: Now You See Me: Now You Don’t isn’t just reviving a franchise, it’s reminding viewers why they fell in love with this world in the first place — the camaraderie, the cleverness, the unpredictability, and yes, the magic. And with the original crew back together — plus fresh talent and surprise returns — this chapter might just be the biggest trick the franchise has pulled yet.

Now You See Me: Now You Don’t is now out in theaters.
