We enjoyed an exclusive two episode screening of Nobody Wants This airing on Netflix on September 26th. This event was hosted at the Paris Theatre in Manhattan. The marketing team did an amazing job by giving out popcorn boxes containing the film poster. Prior to the show starting Kristen Bell and Adam Brody came out and interacted with the crowd for a few moments. Now, we can’t dive too much in to details but here’s a quick run down on what we got to see.
This 10 part series follows the story of Joanne, Kristen Bell, a sex podcaster living in Los Angels battling the harsh realities of the dating world. On the search for love she runs into Noah, Adam Brody, an unconventional rabbi at a house gathering and the rest becomes history for the pair.
In episode one of the series we are introduced to all the main characters, we start off with Noah finding out that his girlfriend is yearning for an engagement. After finding out that his girlfriend violated his personal privacy by searching through his belongings and finding an engagement ring. Noah breaks things off and finds himself invited to a house gathering where he meets Joanne. The episode ends with the two seemingly having chemistry and being into one another.
As we enter episode two, we are introduced to Noahs Jewish parents who are not fond of Joanne, the Shiksa, for the first time. The pair finds themselves in a rut when its reviled by Esther, Noah’s sister-in-law, that Noah is engaged to Rebecca, his ex girlfriend, after being out on a date. Throughout this episode we see how a previous conversation with Noah and Joanne helps Noah dig deep and help a married couple communicate effectively. That conversation leads him to reaching out to Joanne about discussing the current standing and future of their developing relationship. The episode ends with a massive cliff hanger that left the audience shocked and ready for more.
This series created by Erin Foster is the perfect combination of comedy, romance, and cliff hangers. The audience was filled with intense laughter and gasp as each episode came to a jarring end. Foster created a series that can touch a variety of people through love, religion, and navigating life. This is definitely one to binge-watch.
