Newest Trailer for ‘The Young Messiah’ Starring Sean Bean

Focusing on the story of Jesus Christ as a kid, The Young Messiah is sure to captivate the Christian audiences just in time for Easter.

Over the last few years, Christian films have somehow been extremely dominant when it comes to the battle of the box office. Off the top of my head, I can think of God’s Not Dead, Son of God, Heaven Is for Real, and most recently War Room. There may not be a whole ton of Christian films that are released any given year, but once they’re in theaters people flock to them. That doesn’t even mean the movies are actually good, but people who believe and people who are strong in their faith are given a chance to go out and celebrate the religion they love.

For Easter of 2016, I’m absolutely expecting the box office to blow up for Cyrus Nowrasteh’s newest film, The Young Messiah. Based off of the Anne Rice novel Christ the Lord: Out of Egypt, the film will depict a fictional interpretation of the life of Jesus Christ at 7-8 years of age. Jesus tries to discover the truth about his life when he returns to Nazareth from Egypt. Looking at the first trailer, all I can say right now is that the film at least looks intriguing. I’ve never been a religious person but I don’t allow that to get in the way of my movie watching — if a movie is good, a movie is good. The Young Messiah looks like it has the potential to be one of those rare religious films that is both a financial and critical success.

The Young Messiah is directed by Cyrus Nowrasteh, written by Betsy Giffen Nowresteh and Cyrus Nowrasteh, and stars Adam Greaves-Neal, Sean Bean, David Bradley, Lee Boardman, Jonathan Bailey, and David Burke. The Young Messiah will be in theaters March 11, 2016.
