Nerai Hosts A Wine Tasting In Celebration Of Their Wine Spectator Award

Some of the best wines that Greece has to offer all in one place

Last Thursday, Nerai hosted a special wine tasting event in celebration of its Wine Spectator Restaurant Award.  At this event, guests were able to sample wine selections from Nerai’s immense wine menu.   Each wine selection was handpicked by the owner of Nerai, Spiro Menegatos.  On top of that, each selection of wine showcased the range of flavors that come from indigenous grapes out of Greece.  Guests were able to sample a range of different red and white wines which included wines like Eklektikon, Cava Spilades, and DNS Wines.  The wines were also paired with food options that incorporated Greek classics.  You had everything from Spanikopita to Greek meatballs which was provided by Executive Chef Moshe Grundman.  The food pairings were top notch and accentuated some of the flavors that the wines had.  It was interesting to pair some of these classic Greek dishes with the wines and see how each pairing impacted the overall flavor that reached your palette.

Nerai offers wines from all the major wineries across the globe but also prides itself in offering wines that comes from smaller, family owned boutiques in Greece.  The restaurant’s wine cellar holds a stunning 4,000 bottles of wine.  And the price range that they offer goes from $55 to over $2000, meaning that guests of Nerai can enjoy a bottle of wine without breaking the bank.  Nerai is also one of the top rated Greek restaurants in Manhattan.  Taking their extensive and delicious food menu and pairing it with their vast and diverse wine selection definitely makes for a wonderful night out for any foodie out there.
