The models got some serious stress relief before hitting the runway at the Monse show.
Skyn Iceland treated the girls to a whole regimen to cleanse, de-stress and prep the skin for another round of makeup. The process included their newest product, the Cleansing Clothes for Eyes; a take on their bestselling self foaming cloths with a focus on removing stubborn, waterproof makeup. They also debuted their Blemish Dots. The salicylic acid and tea tree oil infused help combat oncoming blemishes and sooth ones already at the surface.
After a firming and soothing masks the models were spritzed with the brand’s Arctic Face Mist which contains Icelandic glacial water. Founder Sarah Kugelman said Iceland was a source of great inspiration for their “purity and calmness and amazing multitasking ingredients that come from there. ”
MAC Cosmetics’ Val Garland made up the models in a very natural glowing look with a pink lip. All the focus was on the brows.
On the runway the models showcased Monse’s casual approach to luxe fabrics. The construction of each piece was very loose, sometimes hanging off the model’s shoulder or billowing away from their bodies. The designers, Fernando Garcia and Laura Kim, took velvet and silk and created volume in the sleeves of one shoulder tops and dresses, skirts and cropped pants. The collection speaks to young audience who recognizes what’s a trend but it willing to take bold risks with dressing.
Pinstripes and the black and white theme was another nod to classics, kept fresh with the deconstructed and relax look. They closed the show with a series of dresses constructed of high shine taffeta, a misstep from the extremely laid back theme.
