Monahlyan breaks down her musical journey leading up to her debut video in the following quote:
“I am a singer and song writer from Boston Massachusetts. I’ve been writing music ever since I was 13. I’ve always been very sensitive to sound. What’s makes a good record for me is how the beat comes together with the melody. R&B seems so natural to me, I grew with parents who didn’t get along, and when ever they were alone they play smooth jazz, electric R&B, funk and soul. I grew up with those types of influences in my house hold. The video came in mind because I have such a strong understanding of what a dismantled but loving relationship is, and I believe most people do so why not express it in a music video.”
