Melissa McCarthy To Join ‘Gilmore Girls’ Revival

The queen of comedy is set to return to her roots in a “Gilmore Girls” reboot.

During an appearance on Ellen, Melissa McCarthy confirmed her involvement in the Gilmore Girls reboot.  McCarthy appeared on the daytime talk show on Thursday April 7th.  According to McCarthy there were various attempts to resolve scheduling conflicts among the cast. The announcement comes a few months after McCarthy shared her disappointment about not being able to participate in the remake via Twitter.  McCarthy was given the green light just 2 hours before her appearance on Ellen.

Tentatively called Gilmore Girls: Seasons, the much anticipated reboot will be released on Netflix.  No word has been given as to when the series will first air.  The remake will be a four part installment of 90 minute films.  Most of the original cast has confirmed their return to Stars Hollow including series Alexis Bledel, Lauren Graham, and Scott Patterson.

Of her return, McCarthy said, “[The films] are gonna be amazing…I’m very happy to go back to Stars Hollow.”

Gilmore Girls first aired on the WB in 2000.  The series had a successful 7 season run until its conclusion in 2007.  The show is responsible for the launch of the careers of many of its stars especially Bledel and McCarthy.
