Exclusive: BrokeASF Drops “How” Music Video FT. 42 Dugg

Get to know Jacksonville, Florida rapper Brokeasf.

When you’ve stared death in the face and survived, you value life in a way that changes your complete outlook. For Brokeasf, music is what saved him form the streets. At the age of 14, Broke was involved in gruesome drive-by in which he sustained shots to the chest, stomach and head. The next year Broke started making music. Growing up, Broke’s mother played the likes of Lil Wayne and Gucci Mane, even stating that a lot of his sound comes from the South.Today Brokeasf joins us discuss his new video,”How” with 42 Dugg, his upcoming album and working with some of the best artist in the game. Broke has more collaborations on the way with artists Trippie Redd, Rich The Kid, Qunado Rondo and many more that will be included in his upcoming album 2002. The Kncokturnal: How old were you when started rapping? What inspired you to start?

Brokeasf: I was 15 when I started. It was a way for me to get out the streets.

The Kncokturnal: Who are some of your musical influences?

BrokeASF: I listen to a lot of down south shit. I feel like that’s what my music sounds like. 

The Kncokturnal: What was the turning point in the past few years that motivated you to take music seriously?

BrokeASF: It’s either this or the streets, and you die in the streets.

The Kncokturnal: What was it like linking up with 42 Dugg on the track and video?

BrokeASF: That was cool, I had fun and got it situated. 

The Kncokturnal: What’re you currently working on?

BrokeASF: I just shot something a few days ago that’s coming probably by the end of this month. I have a lot on the way. I’ve got my album 2002 dropping this year. I’ve been working with Rich The Kid, he’s gonna be on there too.

The Knockturnal: How did the Rich the Kid link up happy?

BrokeASF: Rich the kid was one of the first people who started fucking with me. He was one of the first rappers to show love.

The Knockturnal: Trippie Redd has also shown love, can we expect collaborations on the way?

BrokeASF: I was supposed to go to Miami to work with Trippie, we got some shit on the way. I’ve got songs with Quando on the way, everybody.
