Max Frost Talks ‘Good Morning’ and His Forthcoming Album

Max Frost has come a long way since his first record deal at 20 years old.

With smash hits like “White Lies” and “Adderall,” Frost, now 25, is continuing his success with his new single “Good Morning,”

which released in early March. We spoke with Max to get the details on his new single and his forthcoming album.

The now 25-year-old singer from Austin, Texas, hopes that listeners who hear “Good Morning” can relate to the song and take a liking to its upbeat rhythm. “I’ve realized that I want to make stuff that a lot more people can relate to,” Frost says. The singer hopes his music can have a positive effect on people. “If you’re just trying to make these weird songs and if you’re consciously trying to be eclectic, I think that’s as cheesy as consciously trying to be commercial,” he adds.

“Good Morning” got its debut feature during the Oscars when the songs play in a PepsiCo commercial for Bubly sparkling water. “We kind of had high hopes for the song,” Frost said. “We sat around twiddling our thumbs and we were psyched when we saw the spot because it was just perfect.”

The inspiration behind “Good Morning” came about when Frost was looking back on his move to L.A.

“I storyboarded the video a couple weeks before I shot it. We decided to shot it in Austin because I’m from there and I could pull more resources–like the marching band and it all came together,” Frost shared. The music video is colorful and features a choir and marching band. It’s guaranteed to bring positive and cheery vibes to listeners.

The singer has been working on his 4th album titled Gold Rush with help from with Michael Fitzpatrick from Fitz and the Tantrums, and producer Mick Schultz (Rihanna, Jeremih). Frost says he’s always standing in between genres as an artist and that will play out in his new album. Gold Rush would be featuring some of his “most inventive songs yet” that range from funk music to electro-soul.

“I look at myself as a songwriter and singer, but also as a producer,” Frost shares.  “I hope that I’ll be able continue to change my style and have my own lane. You’ll know it’s my song but it’s never the same sounding song.”

Gold Rush is expected to release in Fall 2018.
