Tennis fans and ice cream lovers rejoice!
To celebrate the start of the US Open tennis tournament on August 26, 2024, American Express has partnered with Van Leeuwen to create a limited-edition, tennis-inspired ice cream flavor, “Match Point Mint Chip x Amex.” This flavor features a refreshing electric green mint chip base swirled with vibrant blue frosting and will be available at twenty-three Van Leeuwen scoop shops across NYC starting on the same day as the tournament.
Before this exciting new flavor hits the freezers, American Express is offering a special preview to eager New Yorkers with a three-day ice cream truck pop-up experience. From Thursday, August 15 to Saturday, August 17, 2024, fans and American Express Card Members will have the opportunity to taste “Match Point Mint Chip x Amex” at several iconic locations around the city. The ice cream truck will serve complimentary scoops (while supplies last) and give fans a first look at some of the experiences American Express will offer during this year’s US Open.
The pop-up tour kicked off on Thursday, August 15, from 5-7 p.m. outside the charming Dante West Village. New Yorkers (and some of their adorable puppies) beat the heat with free samples of the refreshing new flavor and some other exciting giveaways. On Friday, August 16, the truck will move to the Polo Ralph Lauren Soho Store at 109 Prince Street from 4-6 PM. On Saturday, August 17, the truck will make two stops: from 12-2 p.m. at the Wilson Flagship Store at 594 Broadway and from 5-7 PM at the McCarren Tennis Center in Brooklyn, located at 50 Bedford Avenue.

In addition to getting the first taste of the new flavor, visitors to the pop-up events will get a sneak peek at the exclusive experiences American Express will offer during the US Open. For those unable to track down the truck pop-up, the “Match Point Mint Chip x Amex” ice cream will also be sampled at the American Express Fan Experience in the Card Member Lounge at the US Open.
