Much like a musician blending together different instruments to create a song, Del Maguey treats the creation of mezcal as a high art.
Both disciplines require a rare convergence of raw talent and disciplined practice to transform raw elements into a sensory masterpiece. Leaning into this shared philosophy, Del Maguey Single Village Mezcal recently hosted an evening of music and conversation as the latest installment of their Single Village Music Series. Building on a legacy of hosting visionary artists like Silvana Estrada, iLe, and Humbe, the series returned this year to showcase the “recent hurricane of Argentine rock,” Marilina Bertoldi, for an intimate performance and dialogue with acclaimed poet and activist, ALOK.

The evening took place at National Sawdust in Brooklyn, where guests from across the city gathered to experience the performance while sipping craft Del Maguey cocktails. To open the night, ALOK and Marilina took the stage for a wide-ranging Q&A, exploring everything from Marilina’s creative origins to the feminist movement in Argentina and its profound influence on her musical soul. Marilina, a recent Latin GRAMMY nominee for Best Rock Album, spoke candidly about drawing inspiration from her queerness, channeling those experiences into the politically charged, impassioned sound that earned her a spot on Rolling Stone’s “Best Albums of 2025” list.

Following the discussion, Marilina took the stage to perform a high-octane set of her biggest hits, including standouts from her recent album PARA QUIEN TRABAJAS Vol. I. Though the arrangement was intentionally minimalist where Marilina on vocals and electric guitar, backed only by drums, the duo projected a massive, electric energy that surged through the room. As the set progressed, the atmosphere reached a fever pitch, punctuated by a celebratory moment where Marilina toasted the crowd with a copita of Del Maguey Single Village toward the end of the show.
It is through Del Maguey’s commitment to highlighting artists with such fierce, authentic passion that audiences are able to experience transformative performances like this one.
Looking ahead, Del Maguey is excited to announce that the Single Village Music Series will continue on April 30 with a very special guest.
