Listen to Nas and DJ Shadow’s New Track ‘Systematic’

Nas has recently teamed up with DJ Shadow for a new song.

On the new track ‘Systematic’, DJ Shadow showcases his record scratching and sample cutting skills. He provides a beat filled with bass and snare drums paired with synth sounds. The track could easily be placed on the Illmatic album and flow into those tracks but still sounds very fresh and new. Nas rhymes about the corruption of a system, the hook being:

“Hold your breath for 15 seconds

Close your eyes, cover your ears

Do not listen

Try to feel what I’m sayin’

To make you feel is my new expression.”

The track will be a part of the soundtrack for HBO’s fourth season of Silicon Valley, which is set to air this week on April 23. You can listen to it below:

The Queensbridge rapper has said his next album is on his feature track of DJ Khaled’s Major Key. However, all his devout fans and everyone in the world has been waiting for news about the latest project to follow up his last album, Life Is Good. There has been little promotion for the long-awaited project, but he has been releasing songs here and there, his last release being “Angel Dust” which is featured on The Get Down: Part II Soundtrack. Nas is on tour this spring and summer, with appearances all over the US and Europe.
