LG V30 Unveiled at Cocktail Event

On picture perfect summer night on the Hotel on Rivington’s rooftop, LG held a private event to preview their latest flagship smartphone, the LG V30.

The event itself was a gathering of media members to preview the LG V30 and included various interactive experiences and stations showcasing the device’s most powerful features. The V30 is a beautiful smartphone with a 6 inch Quad HD screen, 4 gigs of ram, either 64gb or 128gb of storage, dual rear cameras (16 and 13 megapixels respectively), and a 5 megapixel front facing camera. But to cut to the chase, the V30 is all about video.  The flagship feature is a set of tools called Cine Video and Cine Effect that allows users to choose from 16 filters such as Thriller and Pop art before they begin filming.  This allows you to choose the right filter before you have a finished product.

The PR team from LG led guests through guided tours of features including a waterfall showing off the device’s waterproofing and a listening booth showing off the Hi-Fi audio versus competitor devices, such as the iPhone 7 and the Galaxy s8.  In addition to the new Cine Video, Point Zoom gives you enhanced zooming capabilities that allowed me to find my own Twitter photo in a collage of a hundred photos and focus my zoom on it (a nice touch if you ask me).  The best part is what I’ll call “free play”.  I was given the device and told to have fun taking all types of photos and videos both on the open air rooftop at all of the exhibits.  The V30’s camera is an absolute beast that includes a wide angle lens that allowed me to take amazing photos with little effort.  And if I’m being honest, it produced better photos than I took with either my iPhone 6s or Galaxy s7.

As the summer heat turns to more crisp weather, makers of flagship smartphones are churning out their latest and greatest improvements as Apple’s next iPhone announcement looms.  LG has definitely done a great job building a device that can stand out in this overcrowded flagship smartphone market.  The V30 is an impressive smartphone that is well-built, sturdy, and jam-packed with features.  The V30 was announced at Berlin’s IFA trade show, however LG hasn’t yet announced pricing or availability.
